Split Dhal Recipes

Option 1

Ingredients

  •  

    2 cups cooked split moong dhal (or any dhal of choice)

  • 1 onion sliced finely (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Kripa Desi Ghee/oil
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Kripa Turmeric powder
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 dry red chillies
  • 1 chopped green chilli
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 tablespoon Kripa Dhal Tadka
    salt to taste
Methods
  1. In a deep pan heat the ghee/oil, add Kripa Dhal Tadka.
  2. When aromatic add in dry chilli, onion and garlic. Fry until golden brown.
  3. Reduce heat to medium low. Add turmeric, tomatoes and green chilli.
  4. Add the dhal and bring to a boil. Adjust consistency to preference by adding water.
  5. Add fresh coriander and simmer.
  6. Serve hot.
    Note: This recipe can be used for any split dhal and whole dhal. With the split dhal you could
    add in vegetables like Aubergine (eggplant) or drumsticks to this recipe. The vegetables are
    added in after the tempering is done. When the vegetables are cooked, the dhal is added.

Option 2

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked dhal
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon fresh garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Kripa Dhal Tadka
  • 2 dry red chilli
  • 2 tablespoons Kripa Ghee/oil
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
  • ¼ cup coriander leaves, chopped
  • salt to taste
Methods
  1. In a saucepan, heat the ghee/oil add in Kripa Dhal Tadka.
  2. When it begins to splutter add the onions, chilli and garlic.
  3. Once it becomes golden brown, add dhal, bring to a boil.
  4. Add salt to taste.
  5. Simmer on a low heat. Add coriander.
  6. Optional: After removing from the stove, add lemon juice.
