Lassi (Yoghurt Smoothie)

Lassi is a drink made by blending yoghurt and water. It is a very refreshing drink to have along with your meal or on its own.

Mango Lassi

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups ripe mango pieces or pulp
  • 2 cups plain yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup milk (optional)
  • ice cubes as required
Methods
  1. Put the mango pieces, sugar and curd in theblender.
  2. Blend till it becomes smooth. Add milk.
  3. Blend again till frothy.
  4. Add the ice cubes or chill and serve. Fill tall glasses with lassi.
  5. Top with vanilla or mango ice cream or a few pieces of mango. Serve chilled.
    Note: For plain sweet lassi eliminate the mangoes.

Jeera Lassi

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups plain yogurt
  • 1/3 cup ice water
  • 6 ice-cubes
  • ½ tablespoon cumin powder
  • 2 tablespoons cream (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (optional)
  • salt to taste
Methods
  1. Place the yoghurt, cream, lemon juice, ice water and salt in a blender. Blend for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the ice cubes and blend for another minute.
  3. Add the cumin powder keeping aside a fewpinches and blend for 5 seconds.
  4. Pour into chilled glasses, sprinkle remainingcumin, and serve immediately.
