Arnica

Also known as Arnica Montana, Harachampala in Sanskrit and Wolf's bane, Mountain tobacco, Leopard's bane, Mountain arnica. It is an effective herbal ingredient available in various forms for medicinal use both orally and topically, including creams, ointments, gels, and homeopathic remedies. It is an effective herbal ingredient used in skin and hair care. It possesses potent therapeutic properties which are beneficial in healing and repairing the skin which is why internal consumption and external application preparations made from the flowering heads of Arnica have been used remedially for hundreds of years in India and across the world.  It has a light fragrance, with the chemical composition of an astringent. It is extremely beneficial for the optimum functioning of the immune system and the circulatory system and is used extensively in Ayurveda.  The Arnica flowers are active ingredients, that due to their cooling potency work well to treat skin concerns like pigmentation, acne, and blemishes. The plant possesses a mild anti-inflammatory as well as an analgesic effect, and due to these properties, it can also be used to relieve the pain caused as a result of injuries and arthritis.  Similarly studies of topical homeopathic arnica gels and ointments for arthritis symptoms of the hand and knee -- like pain and swelling -- have been positive.

Contra Indications:
Some people may be allergic to arnica, especially those who are allergic to plants in the Asteraceae family, such as ragweed, chrysanthemums, and marigolds. If you experience any symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing, and if you are breastfeeding or pregnant, seek medical attention. It is important to follow the recommended dosage and application instructions when using arnica topically. Internal use: Arnica should not be taken orally in its raw form, as it can be toxic if ingested in large quantities. Homeopathic preparations of arnica are safe to take orally when used as directed.  
Arnica may interfere with blood clotting and increase the risk of bleeding during and after surgery. It is important to stop using arnica at least 2 weeks before scheduled surgery.
