Clove Essential Oil

The essential oil of Clove is extracted from the flowers of the Clove plant. Available across the seasons in India, Clove, also known as Laung, is a household staple spice used to lend its aromatic flavour to various cuisines.  In Ayurveda, cloves are considered to enhance circulation, DIGESTION, and metabolism and help counter stomach disorders such as gas, bloating, and nausea. The essential oil of clove is used as an ingredient in oral hygiene products to promote tooth health and freshen the breath. Clove Essential Oil finds it’s mention in Ayurveda scriptures as the best ingredient for Aromatherapy as it helps to calm the nerves and reduce stress, which then indirectly improves overall health of the body, mind and skin.   Clove oils, dried flower buds, leaves, and stems are used to make medicine. Clove oil contains a chemical called eugenol that might help decrease pain and fight infections. Clove is also a popular ingredient in cigarettes.

Uses

When used in skincare, the natural essential oil of Clove is known to treat acne due to its inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities. Clove Oil is also known to prevent the appearance of fine lines, making for a wonderful anti-aging ingredient.  

Contra Indications: 
How to use Clove 
For Cough, sore throat, Congestion  
Suck on 2 to 3 clove buds until the flavour has been removed.  Spit out the buds after they become tasteless and repeat as often as needed. If this method is too intense due to the strong flavour of cloves, a second best option will be to mix ¼ teaspoon of clove powder with ¼teaspoon of ginger powder and 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper.  Blend these herbs in 1 teaspoon of honey and slowly lick this mixture until it is gone.  Wash down with a few sips of warm water.  
 
For Morning Sickness and General Nausea 
Boil 2 cups of water.  Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and add in 7 to 10 clove buds and 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger or 1/2 teaspoon of dry ginger.  Simmer and steep for 8 to 10 minutes, strain, and add honey(optional) once cooled to a drinkable temperature.  Drink this tea as needed during pregnancy to relieve persistent nausea and “morning” sickness (and to improve overall digestion.
